Francis Comes Home

Francis had a very successful flight home on May 21st, his original due date. Perhaps coming home to Brooklyn is a bit like being born again, it certainly was for us.

Francis slept through the entire flight nestled in the arms of his loving father.

A champagne toast for Francis on his very own changing table!

When we got home there were lots of presents from friends and family: home made blankets from Great Aunts Sabine and Nancy, clothes from Grandma Linda, and a book from the Albertinis.

First stroller ride in the neighborhood on the way to the pediatrician. Our little man has a clean bill of health and has gained half a pound in his first week. That's what a lot of eating and sleeping will get you!

USA Today Article on Adoption

I saw this article today in USA Today when I was buying lunch: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-05-18-mother_N.htm. Very apropos.

Francis: Day Five: The Bath

Francis had his first doctor's appointment today. He's already gained 3 ozs and 1/2 inch longer (though I'm not sure I believe that second measurement) and has been given permission to fly on Thursday. We also gave him his first sponge bath.

Pre-bath entertainment and research.

The books recommend washing from head to toe and unwrapping the baby as you go.

He didn't totally love it...

but there were contented moments...

and, of course, post-bath cuddling in the hooded towel.

Francis: Day Four

This was a pretty laid back day.

We've already started eating toddler lunches. Peanut Butter and Jelly and Baby Carrots. That's Francis' formula. He's up to 1.5 to 2 ozs per day!

Francis' temporary diaper changing station. We spend a lot of quality time here.
