Treaty Oak in Jacksonville

Treaty oak. This tree was saved in part because a journalist invented a story that claimed the the white settlers struck a treaty with the Indians under it. This is not true, but the name stuck. It is in fact a 250 year old tree that was saved in part because of the activism of the Garden Club of Jacksonville.

Outing to Big Talbot Island

Big Talbot Island has a lot of old oak trees right next to the beach.


The oaks fall down onto the beach and are turned into huge driftwood sculptures.
