Bauman Simensons Take Brooklyn

The Bauman Simenson clan came to Brooklyn for a couple of day in early April and all stayed in our 720 square foot apartment. Thank goodness the weather was nice, and we were able to spend a lot of time outdoors.

Easter

The Easter Egg Hunt was very civilized again this year, but the Easter bunny needs to learn to find better hiding places next year!


Sabine made delicious sweet rolls shaped like rabbits and snails. They tasted as good as they looked. Please note the fancy colorful egg dye.

Nesting

One morning, not long after we got back from meeting Mareza in Florida, we discovered that a Mourning Dove had made a nest on our window sill. She had hatched two little birds, but she kept them hidden from view.


The mother and father Mourning Dove both take care of the babies equally, as we learned from Wikipedia. We got to watch them take turns feeding the babies.


Eventually, the babies got so big that they couldn't hide under their parents anymore. One got strong faster and flew away while we were in Arlington over Easter. The other one took a bit more time to grow up, and then flew away, too.

The momma Dove sometimes comes back to visit the nest.
