Roller Skating/Excercising with Grandpa

The Bauman/Moreno family went Roller Skating with Hanni last weekend. I am not sure that the Bauman's were that into it. Hopefully they will want to try again! They enjoyed the MoonBounce!
Hannah was also enjoying to do exercises with Grandpa!

Eliza & her friend Eva dressed up as Oompa-Loompas this year! Her mom Karen & Mutti made the costumes. Pretty good.
Hannah was a cluddy, but slightly handicap lion.
I was Elmo, a theme costume from work. I can't find the picture I saved. But it was pretty funny.
And Omar was a 35 year old monster (halloween was his birthday).

Hannah's broken leg

Here is Hannah with her broken leg. She spent a lot of time with a bag of socks in attempt to make her good leg as big as her cast. Then she also made her baby a cast with socks! She is doing really well now. We have an appointment on this coming Wednesday and we will see what the doctor says. But now she is walking everywhere! She is a CRAZY BABY!!!

Last minute costumes from the Brooklyn crew. I'm an artist, no one understands my pain, and John, well he's Indiana Jones' dad.

Lenka after 9/8/8 3:15pm Head Banging Session

Other than having glowing red eyeballs, Lenka appears fine after a fall onto the glass coffee table which resulted in NINE stitches at our favorite place, Va Hospital Center.

Canoeing.

Hanni came a couple of weekends ago and we picniced at Fletcher's Boathouse in Georgetown and we went Canoeing. It was really beautiful and fun. We saw turtles, water bugs that skated across the water and a beautiful big bird (Tor, what kind of bird was that again? A Heron?) My bird pictures were not very good, can you see it there on the left side of the picture?

Sweet pictures of Hannah & Bethany

Hannah was a very good sport, spending a lot time at the beach even when she was sleepy. Here are some picutres of her winding down that I thought were just very sweet pictures of my big girl. ;0)

Bethany

The Moreno's went to the beach with mom & dad for a week. It was really nice and relaxing and Jossy & Eliza had a blast playing in the waves. Hannah also loved splashing in the water & digging in the sand. Except for the Olymics in the last two days, the Moreno girls enjoyed a week of reading, relaxing, card playing & board games. Hopefully mom & dad will post some more pictures.

NYC

As Hanni said in an earlier post, Eliza, Hannah & I went to NY for a week to the beach. Although we did not spend much time at the beach we did pop into the kickin bath house behind the beach. See the first picture in this post. That big castle/prison like looking structure houses the huge pool in the next two pictures. It had an enormous wading pool, an almost equally enormous deep end, and a diving board. Just a little different than the dinky and expensive pools around here. It was big and cheap! The next day we took a walk and met Hanni's friend & son at a playground with a water park. Hannah was only slighly obsessed!

Aboard the Schooner Pioneer

A few weeks ago, John and I took a sunset boat ride aboard the Schooner Pioneer, a boat that was originally built in 1885. The trip was organized by our friend Nancy in honor of our friend Meghan, who was visiting from San Francisco. Meghan's in the middle of the photo and Nancy's on the right.

As the sun set, we went by the Statue of Liberty, but we had to rush back to shore because of an ominous thunderstorm in the distance.

The Moreno Girls Visit New York

It's been a while, but we had a great visit from Elli, Eliza, and Hannah. We took the train and the bus to Jones Beach. Unfortunately, there were lots of jellyfish, so I'm the only who took a dip, but we had a great time getting there. As you can see, we packed a lot of stuff. I think we proved that we would be really good getting ready for an evacuation on foot!

Help! Help! The Jellyfish

A couple of weekends ago, Elli, Eliza, and Hannah came to visit and we went to Jones Beach on Long Island.

Here's a picture of what it looked like back in the day.

We hung out on the beach for a while, but the surf was very heavy and there were lots of jelly fish, so we ended up going swimming in one of the pools in the bathhouse pictured above.

I heard on the radio this morning that there are more jelly fish than usual in New York waters this year, and that there are more jelly fish in the world in general, probably because of global warming. Here's a link to an article in the New York Times about it. There's one particular breed called the lion's mane that is very common.

I hope there aren't too many jellyfish when everyone goes to Delaware!

Here are some pictures from Eliza's graduation. They are pictures taken by her friend Caroline Polly's mom. Sorry. I can't find my camera. :-) Elli.
